Fountain Hills 'hovercraft' exercise: team-building, problem solving

“Three ... two ...one ... on!”

That was Matt Chase’s countdown April 27 each time a group turned on the leaf-blower motors meant to inflate vehicles they’d built.

In what the McDowell Mountain Elementary School described as a team-building and problem-solving exercise, MMES fifth-graders were joined in their gymnasium by Fountain Hills Middle School sixth-graders for much of the school day, working together to learn STEM concepts hands-on.
