Kiwanis K-Kids focused on one word at its Wednesday, Jan. 22, meeting. Promotion. The organization decided its task was to create posters to help promote and recruit members for the club. The K-Kids goal is adding at least 20 new members, and they have various ideas to help recruit new students to join.
“The kids have asked if they can make announcements during school,” said club leader Marcia Hoenle. “If the kids get an announcement during school, they can put some history up promoting it, and I’ve given them forms so they can give their friends the forms to sign up and I think that we will get more participation.”
During the meeting, students used bright posters and markers to create big signs that should catch interested students’ attention in the hallways. The number of K-Kids has dwindled in size over the past few years, but that didn’t stop the great work this organization continues to do, Hoenle said. K-Kids supports the community by assisting or sending care packages to local shelters and retirement homes in the Fountain Hills community. Also, members have taught students how to strive for more and be leaders in the world.
