Seven years following the initial incident, Ismail Hamed is scheduled for sentencing after accepting a deal to plead guilty to aggravated assault and making a terrorist threat stemming from an incident where he was shot by a county sheriff deputy.
The incident involved Hamed reportedly making claims of ties to ISIS, throwing rocks and brandishing a knife at a Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office sergeant in Fountain Hills in January 2019.
Hamed was wounded during the alleged attack on an MCSO sergeant in the parking lot of the substation in Fountain Hills. He reportedly was instructed to drop his weapon and was shot when he did not comply.
