Shop with a Doc returns in Fountain Hills

Inspiring youth to join the medical field

The McDowell Mountain Elementary School hosted its annual Shop with a Doc event at the Fountain Hills Target recently. Students who aspire to join the medical field got a chance to spend the afternoon shopping around with a doctor or nurse from the Mayo Clinic. The student and medical partner looked around Target for important health items, such as band-aids, Neosporin, and gauze wraps.

“Shop with a Doc started as a meet up with the local Fountain Hills Mayo Clinic doctors, and we told them we would like to teach the kids about the medical field and have the students purchase items that would benefit them health-wise,” said McDowell Mountain Principal Valerie Reichler.

The Mayo Clinic visited the McDowell Mountain Elementary School and hosted a health fair. During thefair, students got a chance to learn various health guidelines. They learned how to apply band-aids the right way, CPR, how to take blood from a patient and living healthy creates a long positive life to live.
