The Fountain Hill Town Council approved grant funding for the annual Music Fest in 2026 during its meeting Tuesday, Oct. 7, for $50,000.
Fountain Hills received the grant toward economic development and tourism through Prop 202 in an intergovernmental agreement with the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community, according to background information provided within the Oct. 7 council meeting packet. This was passed with the consent agenda, which are generally passed unanimously without discussion.
The Gaming Compact with the State of Arizona, Proposition 202, was a ballot measure passed in the 2002 general election to allow for distribution of funds to cities, towns and counties for their programs from Arizona Indian Tribes. The Gaming Compact permits the Nation to allocate 12% of the fees it pays toward initiatives to benefit public safety, mitigation of the impacts of gaming, and the promotion of commerce and economic development.
