Hundreds gathered Monday morning, May 25, to take part in the 2026 Fountain Hills Memorial Day ceremony, hosted at the Veterans Memorial in Fountain Park.
The ceremony, a joint effort between Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507, American Legion Post 58 and Marine Corps League Detachment 1439, was this year hosted by the Marine Corps League. Following the posting of the colors by the American Legion Color Guard, Commandant David Nelson with the Marine Corps League welcomed everyone to the day of remembrance.
“On this Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation,” Nelson said. “Their sacrifice was not made for recognition or applause, it was made for duty, for honor and for the enduring belief that freedom is worth defending.”
