Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning to discuss 5G

Meeting Jan. 8

The Planning and Zoning Commission will begin discussions related to a potential ordinance to regulate 5G small cell wireless facilities in Fountain Hills.

Residents first began raising concerns about the 5G installations early in 2022. Issues related to the number of facilities needed and possible health concerns due to radiation exposure.

The ordinance proposal would address such items as permitted uses, special use permits, setbacks and separation, buildings and equipment storage, co-location with more than one provider, removal of abandoned facilities and non-conforming uses.
