Fountain Hills’ Planning and Zoning to discuss wireless telecommunications

Work session scheduled

The Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission will return to action with a work session on Tuesday, July 28, to discuss drafting ordinances pertaining to wireless telecommunications towers and antennas.

The town council approved an ordinance updating Chapter 17 of the Zoning Ordinance in 2024 after years of discussion and input. However, that process did not include amending article 16-2, which would allow town code to deal with small cell facilities located in town rightss-of-way.

On Jan. 21, the town council directed staff to work with the Planning and Zoning Commission to consider further revisions to Chapter 17 of the Zoning Ordinance and also review and update regulations to govern small cell facilities.
