Winter storm moving through

The strong winter storm moving through Arizona ahead of the Christmas holiday weekend has left more than a half inch of precipitation through mid-afternoon on Friday, according to the weather ALERT sites for the Maricopa County Flood Control District in Fountain Hills.

The rain gauge at the Fountain Hills Fire Station on Palisades Boulevard and Avenue of the Fountains had received .59-inch through the first waves of rain.

The greatest amount collected within the town was at the monitoring site on Cloudburst Wash at the Adero Canyon Trailhead. That site collected .79-inch.
