Fountain Hills' Public Works approved for larger dirt excavator vacuum

Six times larger capacity than one currently owned by town

Members of the Town Council approved the public works department to purchase a larger, much more efficient dirt excavator vacuum during its June 16 meeting.

“In public works, and all divisions in public works, we do not have any wants. Our policy is to address needs,” Public Works Director Justin Weldy said. “We need to be more efficient with what in our professional industry is considered a soft dig.”

While the town purchased a “relatively small” dirt excavator commonly known as a ditch witch eight years ago; it holds just 100 gallons.
