The discussion over residential density and the downtown overlay will remain pinned after the Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission deliberated on the best route for economic growth and its vision for the town, during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 12.
The proposal is to remove the existing overlay map and replace it with a new plan for the area bound between La Montana Drive, Saguaro Boulevard and the Avenue of the Fountains and also extend it to include the area north of Palisades Boulevard.
Initially, the commission recommended 50 units per acre in the downtown overlay for approval by the town council in which the council reduced the number to 35 units.
