Fountain Hills area Questers help update Merci Train exhibit

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park to unveil new displays on Nov. 13

The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park Merci Train boxcar is getting an updated exhibit, with Arizona Questers Four Peaks #1207 helping curate stories and materials, shape the exhibit layout and contributing roughly $8,000 toward improvements at the site.

The Merci Train was a 1949 gift from the people of France to the United States, sent in response to the Friendship Train, which traveled across the U.S. collecting donations for people in France after World War II.

Arizona received one of 49 boxcars filled with gifts from French communities. It is one of the only Merci Train boxcars to remain intact with it's gifts still accounted for, said Questers member Barbara Rastello.
