It was six years ago when JoAnn Gerardo had a sudden heart attack while attending her nephew’s wedding.

She had read a poem at the wedding and began to feel unwell.

“You’re probably just stressed, hopefully nothing’s wrong,” Gerardo told herself, but she knew something was amiss. After checking into the hospital the next day, Gerardo was diagnosed with a Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) heart attack and Prinzmetal Angina.
