Fountain Hills resident honored by nonprofit for weight-loss journey

Annette Burzynski of Fountain Hills grew up in Poland, but upon moving to the U.S. at age 11, the difference in food caused her weight to grow up to 240 pounds in her adulthood.

“My girlfriend introduced me to TOPS, which stands for Taking Off Pounds Sensibly, about eight years ago,” Burzynski said. “It was a very educational program because every week we would learn about oranges, apples, or carrots, or all these different menus.”

TOPS helped Burzynski with an individualized approach to weight loss. Through weekly education, motivation and weigh-ins, Burzynski learned how to change her eating habits for the better, exercise more, and hold herself accountable to her goal of dropping down to 130 pounds.
