Fountain Hills residents voice wireless telecommunication concerns

Final draft approved

Fountain Hills residents voiced their concerns as the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed amendments and ultimately approved the final draft to Chapter 17 of the wireless telecommunications towers and antennas ordinance on Sept. 14.

After one resident, Lori troller, submitted comments and concerns, the commission reviewed the draft with Vanessa Shinmoto and Scott McCollough of McCollough Law Firm, outside legal counsel hired for the subject, before unanimously approving with stipulations.

The stipulates tied with the approval are reviewing the balloon test (a tethered balloon to test height visibility of a proposed tower); review for school and daycare protections; engineer’s estimate and factor the bond for maintenance and removal; to specify the cure period; and to continue conversations between town development services director John Wesley, Shinmoto and Troller on her suggestions prior to the chapter going before council.
