The River of Time Museum and Exploration Center is facing closure after its lease runs out this summer.
The museum’s 25-year lease under the gift clause will expire on Aug. 15, unless it can pay a $75,000 yearly rent, museum president Mary Endorf said. She said the museum was aware that its lease would expire in August, but was not informed of the clause until when it met with town staff to renew in January.
Endorf said to follow the letter of the law in the Arizona State Constitution, “any public body cannot give money, property, discounts or benefits to any private body unless the public body receives a fair market price.”
