The Fountain Hills Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) held the second annual Feathers and Flapjacks 5K and Fun Run fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 3.
PTO Co-President Robin Bratcher called the event a success. There was a total of 149 registered runners and walkers, and the PTO saw breakfast registration triple from last year. The walkers did a mile on the McDowell Mountain Elementary School (MMES) track, and the runners went around the school and onto state-protected desert land.
“We secured the state land permit. That’s good for two years,” Bratcher said about the desert terrain. “I think that was a great way for our runners to have not so many turns and twists, and it really provided a runner with a long, straight, distance to run, instead of having to bob and weave through a course.”
