Earlier this week, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne said in a press conference that he aims to ban cellphones in classrooms across the state.
During the Aug. 22 conference, Horne said cellphone use “has become the heroin of our time, and we really have to take action against it.”
The effort will require legislation, though, and the last effort to pass a similar measure was vetoed by Governor Katie Hobbs last session. But Horne said he is not deterred and, in the upcoming legislative session, he will continue to push for a statewide measure to keep students off their cellphones during school hours.
