The Lady Falcons got back to their winning ways after defeating Basis Phoenix 3-1.Fountain Hills dominated in the first set but lost in the second. However, the Falcons would go to win their last two sets.“The victory against Basis was a good one,” said head coach Olivia Long. “They’re one of the schools in our region so every win we get against those schools reinforces our #6 rank, and sets us up to be a great spot heading into post-season.” This was truly a team effort, especially during the last set, Long added. Not only did the Falcons have to depend on their experienced players, but also the younger Falcons had to step up and show off their skills.
Long said, “This game was a collective effort by the team for sure but I think our defensive players, libero Seesee Smith and defensive specialists Lucia Kalmbach and Lilly Miller stepped it up and made it so Basis had a hard time scoring. Junior MH (middle hitter) Katie Dwyer had a moment when she got to step in due to our senior MH missing the game.”
