Fountain Hills High School senior Sam Barnard has risen his way to the top and making himself stand out as the best football players in the AIA 3A East Region. Barnard plays multiple positions on both sides of the ball. He’s a fast and agile receiver. Also, a powerful running back on offense. Then on the other side, he’s a hard-hitting defensive back and occasionally linebacker on defense. Barnard currently leads the team in receiving yards per game, total touchdowns and interceptions.
Fountain Hills’ head coach Pete Schermerhorn further explained the impact and dedication Barnard brings to the team. “Sam Barnard is someone we want to get the ball to in a number of situations, and he made several important plays throughout the season,” said Schermerhorn. Barnard doesn’t just stand out for the Falcons, but the entire state of Arizona. Barnard currently ranked second in the entire state for receiving yards with 647. He has 14 touchdowns, which places him at fifth.
