Alison Mecom and Chris Peterson are this year’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7507 Teachers of the Year.
VFW Post Commander Bill Luzinski presented certificates and gift cards to the two teachers at the Fountain Hills Unified School District Governing Board meeting on March 20.
“To be honest, when they told me that I won the award, it was a reaction of extreme humility,” Mecom said. “These are the heroes that you are receiving it from, so it is extremely humbling for me to receive an award from them.”
