Fountain Hills Town Council approves up to $750,000 for emergency contracts

Raised $150,000 for five contracts

The Fountain Hills Town Council approved an amendment that would increase the total for five on-call emergency service contractors to up to $750,000 by 6-1 vote during its meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The vote increases each of the contracts from $50,000 ($250,000 in total) to up to $150,000 and comes from Public Works Director Justin Weldy who said it’s hard to get a lot done with a smaller cap given recent weather activity late in 2025.

Each vendor has a different forte, Weldy noted, and said it’s just not efficient as the town quickly reached its threshold limits for those who responded to recent weather-related issues. When the town reaches its cap, work stops, citing work to areas of Ashbrook Wash and Golden Eagle Park.
