Fountain Hills Town Council approves zoning overlay for downtown

Say objective is to make the center of town a “fun” place to be

Saying they want to make the downtown a fun place to be after 5 p.m., the Fountain Hills Town Council voted 5-2 at its Sept. 2 regular meeting to approve overlay zoning for the downtown area.

The new overlay covers the area bounded by Avenue of the Fountains, Saguaro Boulevard and La Montana Drive. It has three specific districts to provide different zoning opportunities.

These include the Avenue District along the north side of Avenue of the Fountains and Verde River Drive between the Avenue and Parkview Avenue. The Business District includes Parkview Avenue to Palisades Boulevard, and the Innovation District is the parcel bounded by Palisades and Saguaro boulevards and La Montana Drive.
