Fountain Hills Town Council discusses travel policy for council members

No action taken as discussion is tabled

Fountain Hills Town Council tabled a discussion on a proposed travel policy for council members at its June 17 regular session. Members are to take up the issue again in September after a summer break.

Councilmember Allen Skillicorn asked for the specific policy discussion after the issue came up during the budget process. The Town of Fountain Hills currently has no travel policy that applies to council members,  and Skillicorn wants to limit reimbursement to more than 50 miles from Fountain Hills. He noted that council members do receive a $400 monthly stipend, $700 for the mayor, that is meant to cover such expenses.

Council members attend regular meetings for municipal interactions in other communities as well as regional groups that generally meet in Phoenix.
