Fountain Hills Town Council OKs additional funds for downtown streetscape deigns

Addressing drainage concerns

As the Fountain Hills downtown streetscape project continues, a hitch in the design phase pertaining to drainage arose, requiring staff to seek additional funds to address the issue to avoid negative impacts down the road.

During the 30% design process, project engineers discovered drainage issues that were not known during the original grant application or concept development phase. To address the additional design, funding was required.

The Town Council unanimously authorized $133,605 from the previously approved fiscal year 2027 Downtown Streetscape Improvements fund that was budgeted for construction of the first section, which is Verde River Drive between Avenue of the Fountains and Palisades Boulevard, toward the design.
