Fountain Hills Town Council to discuss solar panels, covered parking at Town Hall

Last meeting until September

The Fountain Hills Town Council will discuss the potential addition of nearly 600 solar panels to the Town Hall campus, electric bike regulations and other items during its final meeting before summer break on Tuesday, June 16.

As the town is aiming to continue its growth in infrastructure and energy efficiency, the council will review the proposed energy savings capital project for parking shade structures and 597 solar panels to the Town Hall Campus with the company Veregy. While the total proposed contract is nearly $2.3 million, it is expected to generate $1.6 million in guaranteed energy cost savings over the 15-year contract. The solar panels are expected to have a 30- to 35-year lifespan and the town would save $81,000 in electrical costs in the first year after project completion.

As the popularity of e-bikes and e-scooters increases, so does the rise in safety and behavior. The council will look for direction for possible regulations regarding the electric-powered vehicles operating within town limits.
