Fountain Hills Town Council weighs in on future solar projects

Majority sought road work has priority

After the Fountain Hills Town Council denied by 4-3 vote a dual solar energy carport project proposed by Veregy during its June 16 meeting, Councilmember Rick Watts requested the council to discuss future potential projects in the solar realm during its special session on June 30.

During its discussion for direction, Watts proposed sending a request for proposals.

“I was still a proponent of solar…the savings of energy, the prudent use of finances for the town…,” Watts said. “...A (request for proposal) made some sense to me because we can craft the criteria for this solar around very specific requirements.”
