Fountain Hills Town Council weighs in on legislation

Express support of one bill, oppose a second

While the Arizona State Legislature is in session, the Fountain Hills Town Council has a regular item on its agenda to discuss bills before the legislature with potential impact on local jurisdictions.

At its Feb. 4 regular session, the council asked staff to write to legislative representatives expressing the position of the council on two bills being considered.

Vice Mayor Hannah Toth requested the council support a bill, HB2164, restricting public schools from serving or selling ultra processed food on school campuses during normal school days. The bill lists eight ingredients considered “ultra processed.” Those are, potassium bromate, propylparaben, titanium dioxide, brominated vegetable oil, yellow dye 5 or 6, blue dye 1 or 2, green dye 3 and red dye 3 or 40.
