Fountain Hills track stacks personal bests before division meet

During the NE Valley Championship April 28-30, Fountain Hills’ team of 20 athletes turned in 13 personal bests and sealed five top 24 spots to move on to divisionals.

“This championship meet is what we train all season for and the goal is to be in top form,” said coach Andrea Hall in an email. “We reached that goal by staying healthy, smart training and trusting the plan. I’m really proud of this team for how hard they worked, but also the courage to try new things. We had seniors throwing discus and javelin that had never done anything like that before while having veteran runners setting a goal for a new distance. I’m fortunate to have a great group of kids to coach.”

Divisionals are at Red Mountain High School in Mesa on May 9 and 10.
