Fountain Hills Unified School District looking at budget cuts

Enrollment on the decline

Fountain Hills Unified School District is faced with some tough decisions regarding its budget for the upcoming fiscal year due to continued declining enrollment.

No figure has yet come from the district in terms of proposed cuts for the next school year, which begins in July. The budget needs to be finalized by mid-March, district officials said, before FHUSD starts handing out contracts.

In fiscal year 2024, the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) budget for the district was $10.9 million. In fiscal year 2025, that number decreased by 6%, down to less than $10.3 million.
