Fountain Hills update from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office

Community engagement rises

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office provided a quarterly update to the Fountain Hills town council Dec. 2, with Capt. Kevin Thomas spotlighting various improvements in the department.

There was approximately a 20% increase in calls for service from last quarter and a 20% increase in on-view traffic, which entails patrolling neighborhoods, engaging with businesses and interacting with the community.  Community policing actions by Fountain Hills Squad 5 saw a 277% total increase due to the partnership with town Mayor Gerry Friedel’s visibility initiative, Thomas said.

Total calls jumped from 6,335 in Q3 of 2024 to 16,012 in Q3 of 2025.
