Every day, hundreds of people use the walkway where it passes through a concrete wall marking the Fountain Hills Veterans Memorial.
It is highly visible just off El Lago Boulevard on the south side of Fountain Park. On the hour, the fountain itself rises in salute to the veterans the memorial honors.
The memorial, dedicated 20 years ago on Memorial Day 2005, was a labor of love – volunteers contributed their blood, sweat, tears and treasure to make this monument a reality. Many were veterans no longer accustomed to the labor that went into the construction, but they did it with honor and great joy.
