For Ann Bambrough, volunteering is not simply an act of service. It is a return to herself.
The Fountain Hills local has been volunteering with Foothills Animal Rescue since March 2025, though her work with animals spans nearly 15 years. She had heard positive things about the organization for years but was committed elsewhere. When a medical crisis in her family early last year prompted her to reassess her priorities, she began searching for something meaningful, flexible and restorative. That search led her to the shelter’s Doggy Day Out program.
“It was truly a right rescue, right time situation,” Bambrough said.
