Fountain Hills wrestling, girls basketball receive recognition

The Fountain Hills girls basketball and wrestling programs received recognition from Mayor Gerry Friedelfor their success this season. Falcons girls basketball finished as 2A state runners-up behind a 25-4 record under first-year coach Tom Ferrington. Wrestling had two, Ava Bourne and Tyler Trapani, place at state under coach Luke Salzman. “Great experience overall and it gives us something to build off for the future,” Ferrington, left, said. Salzman said his only seniors did an excellent job. “(Trapani) was a state runner-up this year and Ava was third place and she’s also going to wrestle in college next year ... very proud of them,” he said.
