Fountain Park Hotel denied rezone for 46 residential units

Concerns over mixed use, loss of sales

The Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission denied by 4-2 vote during its Oct. 12 meeting a rezone of the Fountain Park Hotel to transition its third floor to residential.

Commissioner Scott Schlossberg was absent.

Despite the lack of use on the third floor and business struggles, the commission expressed concerns over mixing hotel guests with long-term residents, the potential loss of sales tax and the addition of more apartments.
