Traditionally, the town’s landmark Fountain turns green for St. Patrick’s Day.
In 2011, the Fountain spouted red for Veterans Appreciation Day and a patriotic program.
The “Behind the Badge Committee” of Phyliss Kern, Lina Bellenir and Kathie Mortis is attempting to raise at least $7,000 to honor first responders on Saturday, Nov. 19. The highlight would be changing the Fountain blue.

Fountain will turn blue for first responders

Traditionally, the town’s landmark Fountain turns green for St. Patrick’s Day.
In 2011, the Fountain spouted red for Veterans Appreciation Day and a patriotic program.
The “Behind the Badge Committee” of Phyliss Kern, Lina Bellenir and Kathie Mortis is attempting to raise at least $7,000 to honor first responders on Saturday, Nov. 19. The highlight would be changing the Fountain blue.
Hours for the event will be 3 to 6 p.m.; Kern said the blue dye probably would be ejected into the pumps at 4 p.m.
She describes the event as “one of a kind tribute to honor the men and women serving and protecting us 24/7.”
The committee is recruiting food trucks, vendors and bands to participate.
Several elected dignitaries have indicated interest in speaking, said Kern.
If interested in donating, contact Kern at Kern Realty, 480-837-5833.
