Having read most of the property tax letters to the editor, both for and against the property tax, I have not heard one comment about the authority of the Town Council’s ability to levy taxes as they see fit once they are given that authority.
Rest assured, once they have that ability they will solve their fiscal shortcomings via new property taxes.
I for one like Mr. Yates’ comments as to how the community voted for a bond issue that clearly showed how the roads would be fixed and at what cost. Not the first go around. When the Council can show the town’s people what needs to be done and at what cost, I am sure we the people will vote for another bond to pay for it.

We should never give the council free reign on taxing us.
