When was the last time someone running for office knocked on your door – in 105 degree heat—and proceeded to introduce himself and his platform? For me, that answer would be never, until June of this year when Gerry Friedel knocked on my front door.
Gerry is running for town council. And, since June, I’ve gotten to know Gerry as well as two other town council candidates; Marcus Bulow von Dennewitz and David Spelich. Admittedly, what first got my attention was that all three of these candidates are the only people running who did not vote for the recent primary property tax. They are the only three, in fact, who were on board with the majority of Fountain Hills in soundly rejecting this tax.

Additionally, I’ve listened to their views and positions on small government, fiscal responsibility, accountability, promoting and attracting new business and keeping our community safe. Gerry, David and Marcus have backgrounds in finance, law enforcement and auditing, respectively – skills that I believe would benefit the town council.
Most importantly, they would bring fresh perspectives and new ideas to a council that desperately needs both. Gerry, David and Marcus have my vote.
