Fountain Hills is sending its cross country teams to the state championships after the boys secured third and both girls qualified as individual runners in the Arizona Interscholastic Sectionals in the Division IV East on Nov. 6 at Crossroads Park in Gilbert.
This is the first time the Falcons have sent a boys team to state since 2016.
Freshman Nate Schlossberg led the Falcons with a sixth-place finish of 18:21.11. His time set a personal record by over 20 seconds. Senior Colby Wright followed on his heels with a seventh-place 18:44.59 finish. Sophomore Daniel Pattea placed 21st with a personal record time of 20:23.81. Freshman Tristian Tsosie also hit a personal record at 21:10.73 and placed 32nd. Freshman Levi Lara placed 49th with a time of 22:25.01 and senior Mathew Gonzales rounded out the boys with a 59th-place finish and time of 23:05.95.
