From Fountain Hills studios to the Arizona Fine Art EXPO

In studios and workspaces tucked throughout town, creativity takes shape in steel, glass, silver and stone. This season, two local couples are bringing that work to a wider audience as participating artists in the 22nd Annual Arizona Fine Art EXPO in north Scottsdale.

For Terry and Marilyn Alexander, art began as a shared exploration after careers in more traditional fields. While experimenting with different mediums, they found themselves drawn to an unexpected pairing: steel and glass.

“With enough heat and cold, hard steel and flat sheet glass can meld together and transform into an organic, one-of-a-kind piece,” Terry Alexander said. “When we start a new piece, we have an idea of what it will be, but after it undergoes over a dozen different processes and techniques, sometimes even we are surprised. It’s like the materials are leading the way.”
