Further discussing Medicare Advantage plans

OPINION –  Responding to Kenneth Truitt’s letter of Nov. 7, the facts contained in my letter about Medicare Advantage plans were neither inaccurate nor misleading.

The additional benefits I mentioned are offered in Maricopa County next year by Medicare Advantage plans, like HMOs and PPOs. Those plans are available to anyone who is enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, whether or not the individual is also eligible for Medicaid. Those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid have additional Medicare Advantage plans they can choose from; those additional plans are called Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans, or D-SNPs. I was not discussing the additional benefits offered by D-SNPs.

If Mr. Truitt would like to fact-check what I stated, he can call the following insurance companies that offer the additional benefits I listed in my letter: Aetna, Alignment Health, Banner, Devoted, eternalHealth, Verda and Wellpoint.
