Gallery on the Way presents an opening and reception of artist Ellen Nemetz on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Saint Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church from 5 to 7 p.m. This contemporary artist is based in Phoenix.

Nemetz’s paintings of water reflect the beauty and necessity of water in the desert environment. She uses oil and acrylic to paint, and her work has been featured nationally in public and private collections. Nemetz studied art at the Maricopa Community Colleges where she has twice received The League of Innovation Award.

Nemetz’s representational works also feature animals, people and colors of the desert. She is the co-curator of the First Studio Gallery space in Phoenix and a member of several arts organizations.
