The Fountain Hills Community Garden is in the running for a $10,000 grant from Republic Services. This grant is awarded to a community project that “supports and encourages stewardship of the environment, enhances the natural beauty of the town, provides public enjoyment, supports healthy lifestyles and/or provides education.” The Community Garden fits all of these criteria!

The Community Garden vision is to create a gathering place where people of all generations can beautify Fountain Hills. The Garden will also offer educational classes on a variety of topics.

The winning project will be the one that collects the most ‘votes’ from the public.

Every Republic Services customer that has a recycle bin is able to earn points weekly for recycling – and can then vote those points to support the Garden project. In addition, it is possible to earn extra points by watching online videos, reading articles on their website and continuing to recycle.

Customers can earn 500 points for signing up for the program, 75 points per recycling pick-up, 25 points for logging recycling, 500 points for signing up for e-billing and more. Earn 50 points each for participating in a survey, a poll, reading an article, watching a video, taking a quiz or entering a contest. Details: republicgivesback.com/public/learn.
