Gardening workshops scheduled in Fountain Hills

This fall residents are invited to learn more about the art of gardening with a series of workshops at the Fountain Hills Community Center hosted by local gardening expert, Carol Stuttard.

This series is aimed at enthusiasts of all skill levels, these sessions are designed to inspire, educate and cultivate a deeper connection with nature, according to a press release. From vegetable gardening to healthy herbs, wildflowers and planting an outdoor seasonal container, there’s a lot to learn.

Spaces are limited, and those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible. To register now visit FountainHillsAZ.gov/REC. Use class numbers indicated when registering.

The following are the offerings:

Vegetable Gardening in Containers

*Date: Monday, Sept. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.

*Fee: $20    Class #: 2965

Don’t have the space for a big garden? This class shows how it is possible to grow many vegetables in containers. Discover how easy it is to grow fresh produce right at home. All participants will receive a free packet of seeds.

Healthy Herb Gardening

*Date: Monday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

*Fee: $20     Class #: 2966

This class will cover all the basics of herb gardening in the low desert as well as some of their health and culinary benefits. Free herb plant for each participant.

 Wildflower Gardening

*Date: Monday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m.

*Fee: $20      Class #: 2967

October is prime time for planting wildflower seeds in anticipation of lovely spring blooms. This class will teach all the basics of wildflower gardening for the low desert.  Participants will receive a free packet of seeds.

Planting an Outdoor Seasonal Container

*Date: Monday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

*Fee: $30      Class #: 2968

Join gardening educator Carol Stuttard for this workshop on planting up an outdoor seasonal container. Instruction will be given on general care of container-grown plants, including the best types of plants to choose. All supplies are included in the cost of the class.
