Gay: In response to Gregg Dudash’s letter

The electrons on my screen glowed brightly today with one of the better letters I‘ve read in a while, and not because it was about me! It had a great opener, using Greek mythology which deftly set the scene for the beating heart of the piece. And there weren’t any Cro-Magnon grunts of “uniparty” and “fake news.” The appeal was to the intellect. Well done!

Gregg Dudash made the heartfelt point that I was too cynical and wasn’t upfront about my political affiliations and viewpoints. Honestly, those are fair points. Stating Skillicorn wasn’t a true representative of this community because of his lawsuit was fairly strong, but not cynical in my view.

The real cynics are the wealthy donors pushing a Kennedy presidency knowing full well a vote for Kennedy (especially in a swing state) is a vote for Trump. To say nothing of the cynicism involved in pushing the galaxy-sized lie that FBI agents went to Mar-a-Lago with the primary intent to assassinate a former president, even though they knew Trump and his family were 1,200 miles away in Bedminster, NJ.

As to criticism of Dickey and Grzybowski, I sure hope I would yelp if they engaged in behavior so egregious that fellow councilmembers felt the need to mandate a third party be present any time they met with town personnel. You know, because harassment of town staff is not behavior truly representative of our community. And I would gladly criticize them if they called a town resident’s wife or daughter a horrible name from the dais or other public setting.

In closing, Dudash says my progressive views represent “political darkness” when his party roars as if in a coliseum as the leader preens and menacingly hisses “I am your retribution.”

That right there, folks, is political darkness.
