George William “Bill” Kennel passed in peace on May 23, 2017 at the age of 88 in Fountain Hills.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles, and many of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret “Peggy” of Fountain Hills; brother, Richard (Maryann) of Harrison, N.J.; nieces, nephews and friends. He was a devoted and loving father of James (Maureen) of Mamaroneck, N.Y. and Suzanne (John) Kennel-Nobile of Fountain Hills and proud grandfather of Liam Maurice and Jack Patrick of Mamaroneck, N.Y and Abigail Grace of Fountain Hills.
Bill was born Jan. 31, 1929 to Suzanne Sevoz and Charles in New York, N.Y. He served as altar and choir boy at the Chapel of the Incarnation in New York, N.Y. His beautiful soprano voice as a young boy was formally recorded while at the Cathedral of St. John the Devine New York, N.Y.
A lover of wildlife, he was in his glory during his childhood summers spent at Incarnation Camp in Ivoryton, Conn.
He received his education in design/drafting while serving in the Army. This “Manhattan boy” moved to Queens, N.Y. after marrying Margaret in 1966. He moved his young family to White Plains, N.Y. in 1976.
Bill retired in 1990 after dedicating 40 years to his career. His later retirement was spent in Columbus, N.J. after moving there in 1997. In 2012 he and his wife moved to his final place to call home, Fountain Hills.
Bill is fondly remembered by family and friends as a witty humorist, artist, innovator, devoted Yankee fan and Army veteran.
