Fearless Kitty Rescue is hosting a free microchip event for cats and dogs Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.

This is the first of four planned microchip events in 2025.

A microchip is the best way to ensure pets are quickly identified and reunited with their families, according to a press release.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has reported that one in three pets will go missing at some point. Of those, only 22% of dogs and less than 2% of cats are returned to their families.

The percentage rises dramatically if the dog or cat is microchipped.

The microchip event will be held in the north parking lot of Fearless Kitty Rescue,16832 E. Avenue of the Fountains,

The event is free thanks to donation of microchips by fi-NANO. There are no appointments required, however, cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leashes.

Another clinic is planned for May 3.
