Gilbert “Gil” Trudeau died peacefully in Scottsdale on May 13, 2017 at the age of 86.
Gilbert is survived by his six children, Gerald (Roberta) of Texas, Cheryl Armijo (Joe) of Michigan, James (Dawn) of Fountain Hills, Brian of Texas, Lori Rose (Jim) of Florida and Gregory (Anita) of Tennessee; his siblings, Lillian Duffey of Novi, Mich., and brother, Jerry of Sarasota, Fla.
He is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Madelyn (Golm) of Algonac, Mich., and his wife of 36 years, Elinor “Mickey” Hussey of Windsor, Ont. He is loved by his 10 grandchildren, Daniel, Robert, Geoffrey, Derek, Katlin, Stephen, Blake, Miguel, Melissa and Kevin. He also has eight great grandchildren.
Gilbert was born on Jan. 19, 1931 in Detroit, Mich. to Bernice (Trepanier) of Marquette, Mich. and Antonio Trudeau of Montreal, Quebec. After serving some time in the United States Air Force, Gilbert settled in Detroit where he worked as a tool and die specialist until establishing his own company, Tru-Tron Engineering Co. and moving to Algonac, Mich.
He enjoyed fishing and boating until 1980, when he and Elinor moved to Fountain Hills where he would retire and live the remainder of his life.
Gilbert was active in the American Legion of Fountain Hills and will be remembered as a very colorful personality with uncanny “luck.”
A memorial service has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20 at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.
