The Fountain Hills Lady Falcons basketball team advanced to the state championship finals after chewing up the Estrella Wolves Friday afternoon, Feb. 28.
The Falcons, seeded Nov. 7 in the post-season tourney, led throughout the game, going into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable 37-20 lead. The Wolves, seeded sixth, pulled a bit closer in the third, cutting the deficit to 10 heading into the fourth.
The Falcons, relying on tough defense and heavy rebounding on both ends of the court, managed to chew up some of the clock toward the end of the game and it was 63-49 in their favor after the final whistle.

The Falcons take on the winner of the Friday evening matchup between Window Rock (No. 4) and Valley Christian (No. 1) at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale to determine the state champion. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports Arizona.
