Girls basketball continues in state tournament

Following a bye in the first round of the state playoffs, the girls basketball team took on Many Farms in the second round, besting their opponents 57-47.

Head coach Mandy Baca said she and her team are excited for the big win, making this the first time in school history the girls basketball squad has made it past the second round of the state tournament.

Next up, the girls play Winslow in the quarterfinals Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 26, at 4:30 p.m. at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott. If successful, the team will take on the winner of the Estralla Foothills/Pusch Ridge game in the semifinals this Friday, Feb. 28, at 2:45 p.m. That game would be hosted out of Jobbing.com Arena.

The state championship will be played this Saturday, March 1, also out of Jobbing.com Arena. The time for the final match-up of the season was not available as of press time.
